Welcome to CLA Reggio Kids Multicultural Preschool

A Reggio Emilia Approach and a Multicultural/ Multilingual Program
The Reggio Emilia approach has been hailed as the “Best Practice” in early childhood education in the world, by Newsweek magazine. The approach has attracted the worldwide attention of educators, researchers and just about anyone interested in early childhood education.
Loris Malaguzzi (1920-1994) founded the 'Reggio Emilia' approach at a city in northern Italy called Reggio Emilia. The 'Reggio' approach was developed for municipal child-care and education programs serving children below the age of six. The approach requires children to be seen as competent, resourceful, curious, imaginative, inventive, and those who possess a desire to interact and communicate with others.
The 'Reggio' vision of the child, as a competent learner, has produced a strong child-directed curriculum model. Reggio approach has a strong belief that children learn through interaction with others, including parents, staff and peers, in a friendly, learning environment.
In CLA Reggio Kids, we strive to create beautiful, home-like, organized spaces full of a rich variety of wonderful materials for our students to use. We value collaboration among adults and children and know that intellectual curiosity, having wonderful ideas and acting on them, is at the heart of life-long learning. We strive to make learning visible through the artful display and publication of children's ideas and adults' reflections.
